Audition Listing Best Practices

by | May 7, 2024 | 0 comments

An audition listing on Your Theater 411 should be complete and descriptive to attract and identify the perfect actors for your production.
Here are some tips and best practices for writing your next audition listing:

Everything audition related should be present in your listing. We recommend including the following information and have specified what section of the form is best for each piece of information:

Production Title: Show Title with Writer/Composer

Audition Date(s): Select all the dates from the calendar you plan to hold auditions

By Appointment Only: Select this box if actors have to schedule an audition slot or time. You will include the link in the next section

 Description:

  • Title of Show with Writer and Composer (if applicable)
  • In Rehearsal Artistic Team (Director, Choreographer, SM, ASM)
  • Performance Location & Dates
  • If you are offering a stipend include the compensation amount here
  • Audition Time(s)
  • How to schedule an audition – link to sign up
  • Audition materials or instructions
  • Cast Breakdown
  • Callback information
  • Rehearsal location (if different from performance and/or audition location)
  • Rehearsal schedule or general rehearsal schedule

 Name of Venue: Audition location

 Address: Audition location address

Stipend Status: Select this box if you are offering a stipend

Production Status: Select this box if your production is an Equity production

By following these guidelines, you can create an effective audition listing that helps you find the ideal actors for your production.

Here is an example of an audition listing that hits all the important points!
Don’t know how to add a direct link to your listing?

    1. When you get to the sign up section of the description include CTA text like: “Sign Up Here” or “Schedule Your Audition”
    2. Select the link to your sign up form or site and copy it
    3. Go back to your listing draft, select the CTA text
    4. Click the hyperlink button at the top of the “Description” field
    5. Paste your sign up link in the URL field
    6. Click “Add”

Your CTA text should now be red and underlined. This is how you know you have successfully linked your audition sign up form/site to your audition listing!
